Orale implantaten bij een gecompromitteerd immuunsysteem

Abstract

Vandaag de dag zijn hoge succespercentages in de orale implantologie meer regel dan uitzondering. Het succes of verlies van orale implantaten kan van patiëntgerelateerde factoren en van implantaatgerelateerde factoren afhangen. Patiëntgerelateerde factoren kunnen onderverdeeld worden in systemische, gedrags- of lokale factoren. Implantaatgerelateerde factoren zijn onder te verdelen in lengte-, diameter-, oppervlaktekarakteristieken, et cetera. Osseo-integratie is nodig om stabiliteit van het implantaat te verkrijgen. Het principe van osseo-integratie is gebaseerd op nauw contact tussen bot en implantaat dat tot stand is gekomen gedurende de helingsfase. Botvolume en botkwaliteit zijn belangrijke factoren voor het bereiken van een goede osseo-integratie.
