De rol van de eerste lijn bij patiënten met een persoonlijkheidsstoornis

Abastract

Eind 2008 kwam de Multidisciplinaire Richtlijn Persoonlijkheidsstoornissen ter beschikking. Daarmee werd, zo veel mogelijk op basis van evidentie, orde gebracht in de vaak nogal willekeurig verlopende diagnostiek en behandeling van een groep patiënten die het niet alleen heel moeilijk hebben met zichzelf, maar voor anderen vaak ook erg moeilijk zijn. Zulke patiënten komen ook in de eerste lijn veel voor. Bij 13,5% van de algemene bevolking kan minimaal één persoonlijkheidsstoornis worden gediagnosticeerd en veel persoonlijkheidsstoornissen gaan gepaard met een toegenomen zorgbehoefte. Ook in de eerste lijn zorgen persoonlijkheidsstoornissen voor complicaties bij de behandeling en bejegening.
