Samenvatting
Tetanus is een acute infectieziekte met tonische spierkrampen, voorafgegaan door pijn en spierstijfheid, veroorzaakt door een infectie met een sporenvormende bacterie, Clostridium tetani, die een gifstof (toxine) produceert. Deze toxine veroorzaakt de ziekte.
