Samenvatting

De afgelopen decennia is veel veranderd in hoe vaak chronische ziekten voorkomen en de manier waarmee ermee omgegaan wordt. Enerzijds kunnen chronische ziekten steeds beter behandeld worden en neemt de levensverwachting voor mensen met dergelijke ziekten toe. Anderzijds is echter sprake van een intensivering van de behandeling. Het duidelijkste voorbeeld van deze ontwikkeling is kanker.
