Abstract
Recent is een aantal kritische beschouwingen gepubliceerd over gedragstherapie en psychotherapeutische interventies bij kinderen en volwassenen met een (lichte) verstandelijke beperking. Beail (2003), Sturmey (2004) enWillner (2005) stellen vast dat verreweg het meeste onderzoek is uitgevoerd naar gedragsanalytische en cognitief-gedragstherapeutische interventies. In de meeste gevallen is het doel een vermindering van gedragsproblemen. De auteurs concluderen dat veel studies nog methodologische tekortkomingen vertonen en dat gerandomiseerde pre-post-testdesigns eerder uitzondering zijn dan regel. Empirisch onderzoek naar bijvoorbeeld psychodynamische en cognitieve therapieën ontbreekt tot op heden.
