Abstract

Dit hoofdstuk belicht de effectiviteit van psychotherapeutische behandelinterventies voor het brede spectrum van persoonlijkheidsstoornissen. Via diverse zoekstrategieën zijn studies geselecteerd waarin minimaal één van de onderzochte behandelingen duidelijk omschreven is, minimaal één van de onderzochte behandelingen (gedeeltelijk) gericht op de persoonlijkheidspathologie, sprake is van zowel een baselinemeting als een vervolgmeting, en minimaal 50% van de onderzochte populatie een brede range van persoonlijkheidsstoornissen heeft volgens de criteria van de DSM-III, DSM-III-R of DSM-IV. Studies naar de effectiviteit van enkelvoudige persoonlijkheidsstoornissen, zoals de borderline persoonlijkheidsstoornis, worden in dit hoofdstuk niet besproken.
