Abstract

Despite the fact of being a weight-bearing joint, the hip is not really prone to develop large intra-articular effusion. When this happens, synovial fluid may be aspirated using the same procedure reported priorly to perform intra-articular injections. Conversely, periarticular fluid collections may be relatively more frequent.
