Abstract

Turbulent plasmas are extremely common in the astrophysical context. The phenomenological theory of isotropic and homogeneous hydrodynamical turbulence is presented and the fundamental results of Kolmogorov deduced. Their generalization to plasmas in the MHD regime is then discussed. The relevance of turbulence theory for the problem of solar coronal heating is the subject of the last section.
