The Kasner Solution

Abstract

Derivation and discussion of an exact solution of the Einstein equations which is anisotropic but admits spatial translations as its intrinsic symmetry group. Such a geometry has important applications in the context of primordial cosmology and of models of fundamental interactions formulated in higher-dimensional space–times.
