Abstract

Every year, the International Energy Agency publishes a study about energy in the world, called WEO (world energy outlook). In the 2008 version (IAE 2008) three scenarios are considered. In the so-called reference scenario, the world goes on with business as usual. Electricity generation increases from almost 19,000 TWh in 2007 to more than 33,000 TWh in 2030. China overtakes the USA in electricity consumption and equals Europe, while India overtakes Russia
