Abstract

Almost everything, we might say: we can certainly not rest on our laurels. True, we believe we understand something about fossil radiation, nucleosynthesis, the birth of the Earth and of the extrasolar planets, interstellar molecules and DNA, about evolution and lots more. We have discovered that we are directly linked to the Big Bang, whose traces are still within us, that we are made of stardust and that in outer space, there is an abundance of the ‘bricks of life’, though we have not yet found anything alive out there.
