Abstract

Following any abdominal surgery, changes in the tissues at the site of the incision as well as within the abdominal cavity are to be expected as a normal response to the trauma and changes created by the surgery. These have to be differentiated from those unexpected changes or complications related to the surgery, which usually require medical or further surgical intervention.
