Abstract

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are among the most commonly prescribed drugs all over the world. In the United States the number of prescriptions is more than 100 million per year (for about 45 million patients), let alone another 40 billion aspirin tablets sold as over-the-counter drugs [2]. In the United Kingdom and in France the number of NSAID prescriptions reaches 23 million [15, 30].
