Riassunto

Il dolore è una sensazione complessa che coinvolge il soggetto nella sua totalità. Come si è visto nel Capitolo 1, sono state elaborate diverse definizioni per descriverlo. Citiamo quella della commissione International Association of Pain (IASP): “Il dolore è un’esperienza sensoriale ed emotiva spiacevole associata a un danno reale o potenziale del tessuto, o descritta con riferimento a tale danno” (Turk e Okifuji, 2001) e quella di (1994): “Il dolore è una percezione violenta e sgradevole, che provoca una repentina alterazione emotiva del soggetto e una coerente risposta comportamentale di difesa, solitamente di attacco o di fuga”.
