Le cellule vegetali possono presentare in particolari tessuti delle inclusioni, rappresentate da sostanze tossiche del ricambio vegetale (ossalato di calcio) o da sostanze di riserva (amido, aleurone). Queste sostanze vengono accumulate nei vacuoli, cavità più o meno ampie che si trovano all’interno della cellula ed il cui compito è quello di immagazzinare sostanze che il citoplasma contiene in eccesso.
