Abstract

This chapter examines the nature and expanse of human personality, the nature of process of forming the human individuality and the dynamics of its further evolution into a Divine Individuality. It begins by detailing the parts and planes of consciousness which according to Sri Aurobindo comprise the complex weave of the Integral personality. It explores the dynamics of Integral Yoga Psychology whereby a Gnostic Individuality can be created by organising the disparate and multiple selves around the inner psychic and spiritual centre.

A mutual debt binds man to the Supreme:

His nature we must put on as he put ours;

We are sons of God and must be even as he:

His human portion, we must grow divine.

Our life is a paradox with God for key…

(Sri Aurobindo 1997a, p. 67)

A perfect path to Truth has come into being for our journey to the other shore beyond the darkness…

(Sri Aurobindo 2005, p. 999)
