Abstract

Palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing life-threatening illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification assessment and treatment of pain and other problems, such as physical, psychosocial, and spiritual [1]. Palliative care is a complex specialty that emphasizes the need to provide early, effective symptom management to patients with serious illnesses and can be implemented and integrated at any point in the disease trajectory, not just at the end of life.
