Measurement is the estimation of the magnitude of some attribute of an object, such as its length or weight, relative to a unit of measurement. It is an estimation of a physical (chemical or biological) variable by a measurement device. Measurement usually involves use of measuring instruments, such as ruler or scale which is calibrated to compare the object to some standard, such as meter or a kilogram. In this chapter, basic and fundamental details related to measurement are covered.
