Abstract
Fluids (crystalloid or colloid), vasopressors, and inotropes are common interventions in managing unstable patients in the ICU. These interventions are used judiciously to maintain perfusion to vital organs while definitive therapy is being instituted. On the other hand, if they are used injudiciously, these interventions may be potentially harmful.
