Conservative Repair for Acute Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury

  • Conference paper

Summary

The methods and short-term results of the new conservative treatment for acute ACL injury are presented. The treatment in which the ruptured ACL stump is repositioned and glued arthroscopically was applied to 25 patients from 1990 to 1992. Twenty-three patients were followed up. Sixteen patients did not experience giving way of the knee, and 6 did. Eleven knees showed negative pivot shift; 5 knees were grad-1 positive and 4 knees grade-2 positive. The side-to-side difference of KT-1000 was from −1 to 6 mm with an average and SD of 2.5 ± 1.5 mm at follow-up. This treatment is minimally invasive to the knees and may be recommended to those who want to resume light or occasional recreational sports.
