Abstract
Although rare, series of cerebral vascular malformations with dilatation of the vein of Galen (VG) have been reported for many years [3, 4, 6, 9]. However, the study of the associated anomalies of venous drainage was rarely analyzed, although its prognostic role in deep arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) was recognized for a long time [5, 8]. Imprecise anatomical and clinical analysis have led to the artificial regrouping of different lesions, making clinical and therapeutic research unreliable. From our analysis of a homogeneous series of 16 cases, for which one of us (PL) was involved between 1983 and February 1987, we have distinguished different population groups within the generic denomination of aneurysmal dilatation of the VG.
