Abstract

To enhance the therapeutic effects of liposomal adriamycin (Lip-ADM) for cancer treatment, lentinan (LNT), which is known to increase the permeability of vessels, was administered peritumorally prior to systemic administration of Lip-ADM and the therapeutic effects of Lip-ADM with LNT were investigated by using a xenotransplanted human colon cancer strain. The ADM levels of the tumor tissue in mice treated by the Lip-ADM with LNT were significantly higher than in those without LNT. The significant therapeutic effects of Lip-ADM with LNT were demonstrated by the evaluation of the tumor growth curve and actual tumor weights.
