Effect of Laminin Receptor Ligands on Peritoneal Metastasis

Abstract

Laminin receptor ligand (laminin or YIGSR:synthetic laminin pentapeptide) was injected intraperitoneally into Ehrlich ascites tumor-bearing mice. The group receiving laminin only showed a shorter survival time than the group receiving tumor cells only. The injection of laminin with mitomycin C resulted in a longer survival time than mitomycin C inoculation alone. In the scanning electron-microscopic study, the mice injected with a single dose of laminin were observed to have many implanted cells. On the other hand, the laminin with mitomycin C group showed fewer implanted cells. YIGSR had no effect.
