Abstract
For about 20 years the diastolic part of the cardiac cycle was increasingly taken into consideration [1, 9, 2] especially with respect to ischemic heart disease [6, 7]. Particularly the load-dependence of relaxation — the analogue of the FRANK-STARLING LV function curves — occupied high interest. Using the four tools ouabain, caffeine, gallopamil and Mg++ the following studies should con¬tribute to elucidate the interaction between myocardial intra-/extracellular Ca status and load depend¬ence of -dp/dtmax (as a measure of diastolic relaxation).
