90K Superconductivity in Ca-Substituted YBa2Cu4O8

Advances in Superconductivity II

Abstract

Superconducting properties of Ca-substituted YBa2Cu4O8 are investigated. The transition terrperature Tc increases with Ca content. A Tc 6f OK is achieved for the carposition Y0.9Ca0.1Ba2Cu4O8. As well as YBa2Cu4O8, its Ca-doped catpounds shows an excellent thermal stability in oxygen content up to a high terrperature (~800° C). The intragranullar critical current densities of YBa2Cu4O8 compounds are relatively low, which may be due to the absence of twinning planes.
