Elasto-Plastic Analysis of Thick Walled Cantilevered Tubes

  • Conference paper
  • 21 Accesses

Summary

An elasto-plastic analysis of thick walled tip loaded cantilevered tubes of linearly strain hardening material is presented. The numerical procedure is based on the inverse solution of the nonlinear moment curvature relations, and thus no incremental approach is required. Residual stress fields, radial and axial plastic zone penetrations and residual deflections are calculated in terms of the applied load or residual tip deflection. The analysis is restricted to small deflections with one loading/unloading cycle.
