Abstract

The history of the CR system may be briefly summarized as follows: 1981, clinical experiments start, reported at the International Congress of Radiology (ICR; Brussels) and Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) meeting (Chicago); 1983, the first CR system is brought on the market; 1985, the second generation system is brought on the market (a built-in type is also announced). With the full-scale introduction of the second generation system, the advantages of CR technology were more or less established, and the system began to be used not only in research but also in routine clinical applications.
