Abstract
X-ray examination of the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract by computed radiography (CR) is effective with the use of the double-contrast method, by which fine mucosal patterns can be clearly visualized. In particular, the effects of the wide latitude and image processing of CR facilitate simple recognition of lesions upon double-contrast radiography of the anterior wall or with the oblique projection. CR may also allow a reduction in the exposure dose to about one-tenth of the usual amount. This would be further reduced if the examiner could obtain better adhesion of contrast medium to the gastric wall.
