Synthesis and Characterization of V- and Ti-Containing Hg-1212 Cuprates

Abstract

Two series of Sr-bearing Hg-1212 superconducting cuprates (Hg0.65V0.35)Sr2(Ca1-xNdx)Cu2Oz and (Hg1-yTiy)Sr2(Ca1-xYxCu2Oz have been synthesized. Nearly single-phase samples are obtained in the rangeof x = 0.35-0.55 for (Hg,V)-1212, and y = 0.25 and x = 0.35-0.50 for (Hg,Ti)-1212. The variation of T c with x and T c enhancement after O2 annealing indicate that the present compounds are in the underdoped region. The highest onset Tc is obtained in the O2-annealed samples at 105 K for (Hg,V)-1212 with x = 0.35 and at 100 K for (Hg,Ti)-1212 with y = 0.25 and x = 0.35.
