Abstract
Cryotherapy for the treatment of human disease has a long history dating back to the reported treatment of cancer by James Arnott in 1845 [1] and cryotherapy has been applied for various kinds of skin disease in the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century. Indication of cryotherapy was extended to other organs, including lung [2], kidney [3], and liver [4] amongst others [5] after the late twentieth century. The Japanese Society of Low Temperature was established in 1974.
