Abstract
This chapter is the general introduction to the interdisciplinary field between astronomy and chemistry. It includes a sketch of circulation of interstellar matter in space, brief history of discovery of interstellar molecules, and importance of chemical views in astronomical and astrophysical studies. Units used in astronomy are also explained for readers outside astronomy.
