Bei der Planung von ausländischen Markteintritten stehen Unteraehmen vor der Entscheidung, den Zeitpunkt der Anfangsinvestition festzulegen. Da der Erfolg des Markteintritts mit exogener Unsicherheit behaftet ist (Adner und Levinthal, 2004), sollte dieser Zeitpunkt mit Bedacht gewählt werden. Auf der einen Seite spricht hohe Unsicherheit für einen Aufschub des Markteintritts, selbst beim Verzicht auf baldige Cash-flows. Auf der anderen Seite bietet hohe Unsicherheit die Chance, dem Wettbewerb zuvorzukommen. Die Unsicherheit spielt bei der Eintrittsentscheidung offenbar eine mehrdeutige Rolle. Der vorliegende Beitrag untersucht in diesem Zusammenhang die Wahl des Zeitpunkts für ausländische Direktinvestitionen unter Unsicherheit.
