Die mobile Informationsversorgung hat seit dem Siegeszug des Handys stark an Popularität gewonnen. Datendienste von Mobilfunkanbietern liegen im Trend, zumindest wenn diese netzintern im Tarifpackage inkludiert sind. Für Touristen ist das mobile Web aufgrund der hohen Roaming-Gebühren jedoch noch weitgehend Tabu. In Zeiten, in denen der Nutzer zusehends die Vorzüge mobiler Dienste zu schätzen weiß, liegt es nahe, dass auch Museen ihr didaktisches Konzept des Wissenstransfers um mobile Technologien erweitern bzw. ergänzen. Für neue Formen der Informationsvermittlung in Museen, die zum einen als randtouristische Infrastruktur angesehen werden können und deren zentrale Aufgabe die Wissensvermittlung ist, scheint der klassische Mobilfunk jedoch keine adäquate Lösung zu sein. Alternative Übertagungstechnologien sind daher gefragt. Im Rahmen des vorliegenden Artikels präsentieren die Autoren ein RFID-gestütztes Informationssystem für Museen. Der Prototyp stellt eine kostengünstige Alternative zu anderen mobilen Services dar, der unabhängig von Mobilfunkgebühren auch für Touristen eine individuelle Informationsversorgung bietet. Neben der Konzeption und Entwicklung des Prototypen, liegt das Hauptaugenmerk des Beitrags auf dessen Akzeptanz- und Nutzungsanalyse.
