Abstract
Strategies for Innovators is made up of seven comprehensive company cases. They provide key learnings from successful strategic innovators in various industries. Each case chapter starts with a short company vignette that in troduces the basics and background of the enterprise as well as the vision and intentions of the leading innovator who is the key protagonist in the company case. The company case itself then focuses on a specific decisive challenge that the innovator faced in the company’s history. The challenge is presented in the rich context of the firm’s competitive situation. Key figures, market data, corporate pathdependencies and intended future developments provide the basis for the strategic decisions that the reader will have to make when dealing with the case challenges. Each case is summarized in a short synopsis at the end and complemented by some ‘take aways’ for the reader. The take aways address teachers, learners and leaders. For teachers, we suggest how best to use the case in class, for learners we recommend how to familiarize with the phenomenon discussed in a self learning environment, and leaders might get inspired to reflect the challenge in the light of their own organization or to use the case to familiarize their followers and teams with strategies for innovators.
