Der Begriff Innovation stammt etymologisch gesehen von den lateinischen Wörtern „novus“ = neu und „innovare“ = erneuern.13 Daraus entwickelte sich das Wort „innovatio“, was soviel bedeutet wie Erneuerung, Veränderung.14 Die Veränderungen werden durch technischen, sozialen oder wirtschaftlichen Wandel herbeigeführt.
