Unter Investition ist im Gesundheitsbetrieb die Anschaffung von langfristig nutzbaren Betriebsmitteln zur Erstellung von Behandlungs- oder Pflegeleistungen zu verstehen. Der Investitionsbegriff wird aber auch häufig in Zusammenhang mit Kapitalanlagen verwendet. So kann der Gesundheitsbetrieb beispielsweise in Wertpapiere zur Bildung von Betriebsvermögen investieren.
