Zusammenfassung
Produktinnovationen spielen für die gesamtwirtschaftliche sowie für die organisationaleEntwicklung eine entscheidende Rolle (McEvily/Eisenhardt/Prescott 2004; Schumpeter 1934; Tellis/Prabhu/Chandy 2009). Durch die Generierung von Produktinnovationen tragen Unternehmen zu wirtschaftlichem Wachstum, Beschäftigung und Wohlstand bei und können Kundenbedürfnisse befriedigen, welche zuvor unbefriedigt blieben (Baumol/Litan/Schramm 2009; Baumol/Strom 2007; Christensen/Raynor 2003). Ahlstrom (2010, S. 12) folgert daher: “The social good is well served through […] innovation, which has created millions of jobs, generated hundreds of billions in revenue, and improved people’s lives by creating numerous useful products and services and making them available to an increasingly large proportion of the world’s population.”
