Zusammenfassung
Das Konzept der Eigeninitiative befindet sich am Schnittpunkt von zwei Entwicklungen. Die eine Entwicklung betrifft die dramatischen wirtschaftlichen Umwälzungen. Als Stichworte mögen genügen: Orientierung an globalen Märkten, höhere Innovations- und Produktentwicklungsraten, Veränderung (insbesondere Verschlankung) von Prozessen. Für das Individuum in der Organisation hat dies weit reichende Konsequenzen. Einige Autoren sprechen beispielsweise von der Auflösung traditioneller Arbeitsplatzkonzepte. Dabei werden Arbeitsplätze mit relativ starren Aufgabenbeschreibungen vermehrt abgelöst durch eine Projekt-orientierte Arbeit (Bridges 1995). Arbeitnehmer müssen sich auch darauf einstellen, öfter, als dies früher der Fall war, das Unternehmen oder zumindest ihren Einsatzort zu wechseln. Bringt man die neuen Anforderungen für das Individuum auf einen Nenner, so können sie mit einigen Schlagworten beschrieben werden: Der Arbeitnehmer von heute muss flexibel, aktiv und eigenverantwortlich sein. Mit anderen Worten: er benötigt Eigeninitiative.
