Zusammenfassung
Der Gesundheitsmarkt wird aktuell von zwei wesentlichen Entwicklungen geprägt. Einerseits sind durch Fortschritte in der Medizin- und Pharmaforschung große Verbesserungen der Therapiemöglichkeiten für Patienten entstanden, andererseits ist es zu massiven Kostensteigerungen im Gesundheitssystem gekommen. So haben die Gesundheitsausgaben 2010 einen neuen Höchstwert von 287 Milliarden € erreicht, wie das Statistische Bundesamt (2012) mitteilte. Demnach stiegen die Ausgaben um 8,9 Milliarden € oder 3,2 % im Vergleich zum Vorjahr.
