Abstract

In general, this empirical study explores solutions, a cluster of hybrid value creation business models, in the context of the capital goods industry. Specifically, it focuses on understanding how firms can achieve profitability through a solution-based business model. It identifies that manufacturing firms, which are successful in providing solutions, engage in strategic innovation by providing a host of services that are built around their traditional products.
