Abstract
Our today’s mobile world meets an increasing demand in for lifelong learning services. M-learning applications allow learning settings on the move that are both independent from time restrictions and formal requirements. Nevertheless, there are a lot of m- learning projects that set off to a promising start at industrial or academic institutions but never gained sustainable success on the market. The software development process of m-learning applications is impacted by factors of didactical, technological and economical dimensions both in an interdisciplinary and integrated way. Process models offer an instrument to improve effectiveness and efficiency of multiple software development processes. As there is a gap in interdisciplinary research this dissertation improves the understanding of the ‚m-learning‘ phenomena by developing an integrated and interdisciplinary causal-related theory as a first step. As a second step, scientific findings are applied to build a both integrated and interdisciplinary process model artifact that utilizes m-learning providers in developing sustainable m-learning applications. The construction of this artifact is based on extended event driven process chain diagrams. The utility of this design solution is evaluated by both its construction method and CT CCLSG study based implementation under real life conditions.
