Wikis sind eine (meist web-basierte) Plattform für die kollaborative Bearbeitung von Hypertext-Dokumenten. Charakteristisch für die meisten Wikis ist ein niedrigschwelliger Zugang, der es allen Nutzern erlaubt, die angebotenen Texte nicht nur zu lesen, sondern auch zu ändern. Weiterhin können die Nutzer auch selbst neue Dokumente anlegen. Dies alles geschieht häufig anonym, d. h. ohne vorherige Anmeldung am System.
