Regelungssysteme für Motorradbremsen (ABS = Anti-Blockier-System) wurden erstmals 1988 von BMW für die Serie vorgestellt. Andere Motorradhersteller folgten nur zögerlich und erst Mitte des ersten Jahrzehnts dieses Jahrtausends ist ABS bei allen namhaften Motorradherstellern im Angebot.
