Das besondere Verhalten der holomorphen Funktionen macht nicht vor Singularitäten halt. Man kann zumindest isolierte Singularitäten ziemlich einfach klassifizieren und die Funktionen zudem in der Nähe einer solchen Singularität in eine sogenannte Laurent-Reihe entwickeln, die große ähnlichkeit mit einer Taylorreihe aufweist.
