Wenn man von Immunsuppression spricht, muss man immer dazu sagen, was supprimiert werden soll, zum Beispiel eine überschießende, antibakterielle Abwehr bei Sepsis, eine Transplantatabstoßung oder eine Autoimmunerkrankung. Ein Beispiel: Niedrige Dosen des Zytostatikums Cyclophosphamid supprimieren selektiv regulatorische T-Zellen (Treg). Das Medikament supprimiert eine Suppressorzelle. Was das heißt, ist aus Abbildung 7.4 abzuleiten.
