Abstract
Sintering process is an agglomeration process in which fine grained iron concentrates are sintered in high temperature to particles of bigger sizes, which are further used as iron bearing burden in the blast furnace. The sintering process uses a lot of energy, its material flow is very large and maintenance costs are high, so considerable savings potential exists. Attempts to automate it have been done, but really good, simple and working control system has not been developed. A reason for this is the process itself; it is too complicated and multivariable to the traditional control methods.
