Abstract

An important notion in the theory of nonlocal operators is the notion of the crossed product of a C*-algebra by a discrete group. Such products (where for the algebra we consider an appropriate algebra of functions) play the role of algebras of symbols in this theory. In this section, we present necessary definitions and main facts of interest to us in the theory of crossed products.1

The notion of C*-crossed product is defined not only for discrete but also for arbitrary locally compact topological groups; e.g., see [27]. But we are interested only in the discrete case.
