Zusammenfassung

Schon im 19. Jahrhundert, als die Chemie erst im Beginn ihrer Entwicklung war, versuchte man durch chemische Untersuchungen die Krebskrankheit zu erforschen. Man hoffte im Krebsgewebe selbst, das sich in seiner Wachstumtendenz so sehr von allen anderen Zellgeweben unterscheidet, kardinale chemische Unterschiede gegenüber den übrigen Körperzellen zu finden und durch chemische Erkenntnisse dem Verständnisse dieses furchtbaren Leidens näherzukommen.
