Abstract
Formal specification and verification techniques have been advocated for life-critical applications for over two decades but have only been applied to a few deployed systems. Nevertheless, formal methods have been successfully used on increasingly difficult research problems over the last 5–10 years. A key question arises: “Have we finally reached the place where the transfer of this technology to industry is practical?”
