Multiuser and Multimodal Aspects of Multimedia

  • Conference paper

Part of the book series: Eurographics ((EUROGRAPH))

Abstract

A set of coordinated approaches is presented, contributing to a software technology suitable for multimedia. In contrast to a separate „niche“ technology, the importance of integration is stressed in the multimedia context. This leads to the notion of cooperative media-integrated software and corresponding software technology. Three important elements of a modeling and development framework for such cooperative media-integrated software are motivated, denoted as ubiquity, modality, and synergy. The latter two elements are elaborated by presenting corresponding approaches for multimodal interaction and for workplace and enterprise integration.
